British soldiers identified one another during the D-Day landings by calling the word fish. The response was chips, signifying an ally.
“I love good fish and chips but so often they are a disappointment. This establishment exceeded expectations. Easy to find and park. Appealing decor. Superb welcome. Then there is the food. Much of the menu is to be expected and so it should be. It's tradition! There are some variations and twists on the theme, for example, a delicious fish pie. I had the haddock and chips. It was so pleasing because of the light crispy batter (almost tempura texture) that did not detract from the fish. Chips were hot and well cooked.”
